Summer 2007

July 23,
2007
Dear
members and friends,
This letter serves to bring
you up to date on the
progress of our community
boat shop and upcoming
events.
Let me first invite you to
join us at our annual Louse
Point boat meet and picnic
on Sunday August 5th between
the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM.
Bring a picnic and some to
share with others, along
with your boat and good
friends. If you don't have
an East Hampton beach
parking sticker don't fret,
the Town Board Resolution
2007-1036 lifted the parking
restrictions for the day.
This is an opportunity to
sail and row a great variety
of member's boats.
Our next event is Harborfest
on September 15th and 16th.
We will have our T-shirts
for sale, boats on display,
a classic boat race on
Saturday afternoon while on
Sunday a few of us will have
the opportunity to crew
aboard the Intrepid, an
America's cup classic, in
the third Charity Cup race.
There are three crew
positions available for
those of our members who are
willing to part with $1,000
for the experience. Last
year we missed first place
in the last few seconds of
the race. It is truly an
experience of a lifetime.
The final stages of the
community boat shop are
nearing thanks to the
dedicated effort of a small
group of volunteers. We are
fortunate to have a number
of fine craftsmen who
contribute many hours to
building key elements. Other
volunteers have refined
their construction skills
where they no longer require
monitoring.
Professional help will lay
up the cedar shingles in the
next week or so. Our focus
over the next few weeks will
be on plumbing, installing
the lighting, and building
the handrails for the porch
and deck. Our last big push
will be the erection of the
posts and joists for the
south facing porch and
related laying of the deck.
Our volunteers arrive at 9
